Up in the Colorado mountains, keeping a lawn looking good is a real challenge. The altitude, the dry spells, the rocky soil - it all works against you. And if you're already running irrigation to a greenhouse and raised garden beds, the last thing you want is to dump even more water into trying to keep grass alive between them.
That's exactly what these homeowners were dealing with. They had a beautiful setup - a wood-frame greenhouse, multiple raised beds with drip irrigation already running to their plants - but the space in between was a mess. No usable lawn, just wasted potential. They wanted somewhere to actually walk, sit, and enjoy the view of the mountain valley stretching out behind the property.
We installed artificial turf throughout the backyard, weaving it between the greenhouse, the garden beds, and the existing flagstone patio. The layout wasn't a simple rectangle - it needed to curve and fit around structures cleanly. That's where the install really has to be done right. Sloppy edges or bunched seams ruin the whole look. We kept everything tight to the borders so the turf reads as a natural part of the yard, not something dropped on top of it.
The smart part of this setup is the water story. All the drip lines running to the garden beds stay exactly where they are, doing their job. The turf in between? It needs nothing. No irrigation. No mowing. No reseeding after a dry summer. The homeowners get to put every drop of outdoor water where it actually counts - into the food they're growing.
Colorado mountain properties have views worth showing off. Now this one has a backyard worth spending time in.
