Most golfers spend more time driving to the course than actually practicing. A backyard putting green solves that. No tee times, no commute - just grab your putter and go. That convenience adds up fast, especially if you're serious about your short game.
We teamed up with Dragonfly Landscape Design on this backyard build, and it's a great example of what happens when trades work together well. They handled the landscaping, retaining walls, and stamped concrete patio. We came in and built the putting green to tie the whole space together. Each piece complements the other, and the finished result feels cohesive rather than pieced together.
The green itself was designed with multiple holes and a flowing, organic shape that fits naturally into the surrounding boulder walls and mulched landscape beds. We use two distinct turf heights - a tighter putting surface and a slightly taller fringe - so the playing experience actually mirrors what you'd find on a real course. That detail matters if you're using this to genuinely sharpen your game.
What we love about a setup like this is that it works on multiple levels. It's a legitimate practice tool for the golfer in the family. It's also just a great outdoor space - the kind of backyard that gets used constantly. Kids love it, guests notice it, and it holds its value without any of the watering, mowing, or maintenance that a natural grass area would demand.
Every putting green we build is custom - shaped around the yard, the existing hardscape, and what the homeowner actually wants out of the space. No two are the same, and that's exactly how it should be.
